While official announcements are great, we can’t help but get a rush when we see things like this. Thanks to the guys over at GSM Help Desk, who were in attendance while LG showed off seven new handsets to the Dutch press, we’ve got a healthy batch of devices coming from the Korean handset manufacturer. And while some of them look pretty ordinary, there’s at least a couple in here that will catch an eye or two.

First up, is the LG GM205 (pictured above). This device is pegged as a music-oriented handset, and when it hits store shelves later this year, will come in a variety of colors (not just the orange/red you see here). The unit itself is equipped with Dolby Mobile Technology, so that means your music is going to sound great all the time, whether in your headphones or on the speakers. It’s also got a woofer, just to rub it in a little bit. You can put the device up to a speaker and listen to a song, and add it right there as a ringtone. Keeping up with the music trend, it’s also got an FM radio on board. On the back, there’s a 2MP camera, and expandable memory.

Next is the LG Jacquar 5, which we believe (just by the name) either won’t make it to the States, or if it does, will get a distinctive name change. This is a very simple device, aimed for those who just want to call, text, and use some of the media functions on the device, like listening to music. It’s not your next smartphone, basically. It’s even got a VGA camera on the back, which, we’ll be honest, we didn’t think anyone did anymore. It doesn’t look half bad aesthetically, but we don’t think this will be on any kid’s wishlist any time soon.

The LG GU230 is a slider, with a 1.3MP camera on the back, and expandable memory. There’s also a standard music player on this device as well (we’re beginning to see a trend here), but that’s about it. Much like the Jacquar 5, this is just a phone to get you through the day, not shock the socks off people. It’s got a nice design though, and the white color would probably attract a few onlookers.

Ah, the LG Pure. We can’t help but stare at this device. We’re not sure if that’s because it looks good, or if it’s strikingly familiar to another device out there, albeit one in the Personal Media Player region of markets. Either way, this device is for the mid-range, just inching past the previous devices in features. For example, the Pure’s rocking a 5MP camera on the back, and is capable of 3G speeds to upload those images. It’s also a slider, and one that doesn’t look half bad. The phone’s memory can be expanded to 32GB, which leads us to believe that this device is meant more as a media-heavy phone than anything else.

We’ve got another LG Viewty to stare at, as LG introduced the LG GT400 Smile, a touchscreen device capable of 3G speeds. It’s got a 5MP camera on the back, and like the Pure before it, it’s meant for the mid-range market. It too has expandable memory, but no mention of how much. It’s got a scratch-resistant screen, music player, and FM radio. From what we can see in the image, that looks like the same User Interface we’ve seen on previous LG devices, like the Xenon, so based just off that, there’s a chance this device might see State-side release.

As we continue to climb the ladder, we finally find the LG devices that may attract a more media-heavy, top-tiered customer. We also find LG’s 3D S-class User Interface, so take that as you want. Here, we’ve got the LG GT405. The widget-friendly UI is still there in its purest form, ready to be moved around the 3-inch touchscreen. It’s also got a 5MP camera, photo editing options, 3G, FM radio, MP3 player, Bluetooth, and has a MicroUSB 2.0 port. of all the devices, this one makes the top of the list for devices we might see locally.

Finally, we have a phone that’s designed for the messaging youth out there. It’s the successor to the LG KS360, and it’s appropriately entitled the KS365. It’s got a 2.4-inch touchscreen (we’d be willing to bet that’s a resistive screen), along with a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard. On the back, there’s a 2MP camera; on the inside we’ve got a music player and FM radio. It’s one of the more uniquely designed handsets, to say the least.

We should note that none of these devices have been officially announced, so a lot of things could change about these things well before we ever see them again. And if any of them do happen to see an official launch, we’ll be sure to let you know. So, let us know, which one do you want?

We’ll just go ahead and say it: Twitter is a business application. That’s right, you’re not seeing a question mark there. We understand that a lot of companies, businesses, and everything in between (us included) use Twitter in one capacity or another. Whether that’s just by advertisement, or dealing with the social networking side of it, there’s always a reason to use Twitter. And it looks like Research In Motion is finally agreeing with everyone out there, because they’ve got two applications in the works that will make a lot of Twitter and LinkedIn users happy.

Of course, BlackBerry users have a good Twitter application already available to them in the guise of UberTwitter, but there is a small glimmer of hope that an official application will just work better than anything else offered. In this case, the Twitter for BlackBerry smartphones is set to include Mentions, Direct Messages, your Timeline, retweeting, and following (all the essentials for a Twitter client). From the small image we can see of the application, we’re liking how it looks.

The LinkedIn for BlackBerry application also looks pretty nice. You’re able to look up profiles, send messages, and check network updates. However, there’s one feature that seems to suggest a far bigger thing happening here. The advertisement suggests that you will be able to see LinkedIn profile photos in your Contacts. Does that mean the LinkedIn application is going to sync with your BlackBerry contacts? We certainly hope so. Lastly, both of these applications are going to be offered up for free, but the only semblance of a timeline that RIM is offering can be found in that legendary “soon” word, so who knows when they’ll actually hit.

Amazon Wireless is one of those places you can go to pick up a new phone, whether that means unlocked, or by going the whole contract route. It’s been in business for awhile (since last July, when it launched as a Beta program), and we imagine that it’s been a pretty good service for the online retailer as a whole. If it weren’t, we probably wouldn’t be seeing things like this. Amazon Wireless is announcing today that they’re offering up 10 additional T-Mobile USA-based devices, all of the “bestselling” nature.

The Wireless online store is another location that offers up rebate-free shopping, which means that instead paying that $150 for a phone and getting $50 in the mail some time later in the year, you just go ahead and pay the $100 and call it a day. That’s great, because, let’s face it, mail-in rebates aren’t the best. In addition to offering up individual and family plan extensions, Amazon Wireless is also now offering up the ability to start a new individual and family plans. You can also choose to keep your phone number, or get a new one if you want. The devices are listed below:

BlackBerry Bold 9700 – Titanium

Motorola CLIQ Android phone with MOTOBLUR

BlackBerry Curve 8520 – Black

BlackBerry Curve 8520 – White

Samsung Highlight t749 phone

Samsung Gravity 2 phone

HTC Touch Pro2

T-Mobile 3G Dash Windows Phone

Sony Ericsson Equinox phone

Samsung Behold II (which is also an Android-based device)

As an introductory offer lasting until March 14, 2010, Amazon Wireless is going to waive the initial activation fee that plagues the first monthly bill for a lot of customers. That’s a savings of at least $35, so that’s a big deal. The only trouble with offering up phones online, especially for new customers, is that they’re not able to really play with the device before purchasing. We always, strongly suggest you use a device to find out if it’s for you before you buy.

Back when the T-Mobile G1 launched for T-Mobile USA, there was a lot of speculation circling Google and their little green Android. Was it going to be a success? Would anyone even care? Considering that the G1 didn’t make that big of a splash on the consumer side of things, it was a pretty much unanimous (with some nay-sayers mixed in for good measure) vote that the G1, and the software powering it, was a game changer. At least, it would be. And now, since the launch of the Motorola Droid on the Verizon network, we’ve seen that change in perception, as the Android revolution continues to spread. The newest target? Canada.

Rogers, one of the largest wireless carriers in Canada, has just received their latest Android-powered handset. Not HTC built this time, the Samsung Galaxy Spica is a 3.2-inch, 320×480 capacitive touchscreen device, running (unfortunately) Android version 1.5. There has been word that the device will be upgraded to 2.1 eventually, so if you’re looking to pick up an Android phone, don’t let the 1.5 version hold you back too long. 2.1 is coming. If the rumors are true. It’s also got a 3.5mm audio jack, 3.2MP camera on the back, and a 2GB MicroSD card sold with the phone.

As is standard up in the Great North, a three-year deal will get you the device for $79.99. It jumps up to $349.99 on a two-year deal, and if you’re one of those people who hates contracts, it’ll be a cool $449.99. Not bad for the out-right price (if you don’t look at the software version), but we’re guessing that many Canadians out there are going to enjoy their three-year plan. Anyone up there going to go check out the Galaxy? Let us know!
