Nokia, Zeemote bring controller to N-Gage and S60

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

Would you be interested in playing your N-Gage games in N-Gage-compatible phones with a remote? Could it be interesting if combined with a TV out, as if you have a truly portable game console with you? It’s possible now because Zeemote already announced plans to distribute its Zeemote JS1 Bluetooth controller with Nokia’s N-Gage handsets and to launch its Zeemote Zeekey application. This new application enables the Zeemote JS1 Controller to work with N-Gage games and other S60 applications.

From their press release:

With a thumbstick and four assignable trigger buttons, the ergonomically designed Zeemote JS1 Controller which weighs just 47g/1.7oz, offers real analog control over Bluetooth, enabling users to truly engage with mobile games and other applications residing on the handset.

Using the remote, the user can control applications on the device that normally would require button presses. Yeah, the application will also enable the Zeemote to control other functions like mapping, music players, and even the camera!

Ah, yes. So far, the Zeemote bundled with certain N-Gage-compatible phones will offer for Germany market only, but will spread elsewhere.

Anyone from Germany has tried this controller? Please share with us here.

Combining timeless style with superb functionality, the Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte offers the unique tap-for-time feature - consumers can tap the steel surface below the display twice and a clock appears on the screen. Background images organically change during the day, giving a unique appearance to the display. The turn-to-mute silencing mechanism allows individuals to silence incoming calls in a discrete manner by turning the phone over, screen-side down.

In addition to the 3G capabilities and 3.2 megapixel auto focus camera and high quality audio, the Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte boasts a stunning OLED display and built-in memory that has been expanded from previous offerings in the range to 4 GB. Meanwhile, Nokia’s anti-fingerprint coating reduces smudges on metal and glass and unsightly outer seams are hidden by a unique all-in-one microUSB connector.
