LG eXpo Projector Phone Nowhere to be Seen

It doesn’t happen all too often, but it’s completely possible: a phone gets released, and there’s actually enough demand for the thing that retailers actually sell out. Of course, there’s all sorts of different angles you could look at that, from there being a “small amount” of initial units, or (which may be unlikely for some devices), there were just that many people out there that wanted their hands on it. Whatever the case, it seems that the Windows Mobile 6.5-powered LG eXpo is seeing the same results, but there doesn’t seem to be a clear answer as to why no one can pick up this little gem.

For the last couple of weeks, the pico projector-optional device has been marked as “out of stock,” over at AT&T’s site. That’s changed though, and now the phone is just gone. Nowhere to be seen. So, where’s the one phone (okay, second) that gives Windows Mobile a shining glimmer of usability? If you listen to AT&T, then the eXpo has fallen victim to some ridiculously “strong demand,” and LG is quick to agree. But, apparently there’s a hiccup in this story. The manufacturer of the LG’s fingerprint sensor is saying that there’s some major issues with the eXpo’s antennae, which is seriously hampering any manufacturing that may be happening.

If you didn’t pick up the eXpo when it was initially released, you may be looking at a very, very long wait before you see the device hit store shelves again. In fact, there’s no word on whether it will or not, except for the industry standard “soon.” Which, as we all know, could mean anything, really. Besides, if you’re looking for a Windows Mobile handset, maybe you should take a look over at the HTC HD2, and get yourself acquainted with that huge screen.
